I think God’s going to come down and pull civilization over for speeding. ~Steven Wright
It’s true that people are working longer, harder and at a more feverish pace in the 21st Century. That’s why All Star is always looking for ways to make your life easier when it comes to collision repair. Everyone wants their beloved car back as quickly as possible after an accident and All Star strives to deliver on your behalf. In over 90% of repairs, additionals, or extra repairs that could not be detected by MPIC at initial claim time, are necessary. It used to be a case of having an estimator physically revisit the auto body shop, re- assess and eventually okay the extra repair. At All Star we’ve adopted the technology of Digital Imaging to speed up the process. Digital photos are sent electronically to Auto Pac through a supplemental sheet and within hours, additionals are processed. So while we can’t promise you immunity from celestial speeding, at All Star we’ll have you back on the road quickly.

We tend to take our car keys for granted, unless we lose them. Perhaps the key is not needing a key. If you’re lucky enough to have a key less system, your keys really are an afterthought. That is unless you lose your fob. As long as they are in our pocket, these are good keys.
The key we don’t want to deal with is the keyed car. Vandals can cause a lot of grief and even necessitate a complete paint job depending on the severity of the act. This is an example of a bad key.
The last key we should avoid is giving our key away. How do you do this: have a dignitary visit our city and give him the key. It’s an honour bestowed on worthy recipients. I can only wonder why we did not give our city key to Paul McCartney but did give it to Gene Simmons? He does have a long tongue, multiple bankruptcies and questionable internet investment ventures, and too many sexual conquests to count. Nice choice Garth and Sam. But in All Star’s opinion, this is a bad key.

We tend to take our car bumpers for granted. They are our first line of defence for most of our low-impact indiscretions. But did you know the process MPIC has put in place if yours is damaged? The magic number is 20,000km or current model year. You then qualify for a new bumper, otherwise there’s a detailed process to follow. If not entitled to new, the auto body shop has to check for used. If there is no used, then it’s a remanufactured model (previously damaged, repaired and sold back to autobody repair shops in Winnipeg). Finally we search for after market and if nothing is available, it’s a return call to MPIC and the parts coordinator can okay a new bumper. But not at All Star. We believe your car’s first line of defence deserves a more exalted position. That’s why with certain vehicles where we have been able to work out an agreement with the dealerships, All Star supplies new bumpers at the remanufactured price. Just another way we’re trying to better serve our clientele and all your automotive needs, even the lowly bumper.

Our business is about technology, yes. But it’s also about operations and customer relationships.
Michael Dell
Okay, I’ll admit we’re not as tech savvy as Dell but anytime All Star can incorporate a technological advancement to simplify “operations and customer relationships,” we’re in. That’s why we’ve developed an online booking system unique to All Star. What used to be a half-day hassle of finding a reputable collision centre, making an appointment, driving the vehicle down (if it was operational), meeting with the estimator… you get the picture. The convenience of allowing customers to go online, fill out a form in five minutes and eliminate all those time-consuming steps is a boon to both clients and us. All Star knows how hectic and fast-paced every one’s lifestyle is so we’re adapting our operations to meet your needs. With a little modification, the digital age is helping transform auto body repair and it’s a win/win situation for all. And how easy is it? Well, I think the picture speaks for itself.

It is with renewed pride in our fair city that I send out a hearty “Well Done, Winnipeg” in recognition of the support for the return of professional hockey to the Peg. And who could have predicted that 13,000 season’s tickets would be sold in 17 minutes? That has to be some kind of record and speaks to the great job True North has done. If you would allow me to indulge in a slight comparison, there are some parallels, albeit minor, between the MTS Centre and All Star. Just as the MTS Centre proved to be a catalyst to revitalizing the city centre, All Star has strived to be a pillar within the west end. Besides the solidarity of being a good corporate citizen, All Star has given back by being a sponsor of Habitat for Humanity. The hockey connection grows even stronger with the support and donation of tickets to deserving schools and children of the Selects Program so they could attend Professional Old Timer’s hockey at the MTS Centre. Admittedly not on the scale of True North, but just tryin’ to do our part locally.

It’s easy for a company to get caught up in its day-to-day business dealings and forget about its commitment to give back. But at All Star we always strive to retain that larger vision. In keeping with our motto of supporting the community, we are adding our support and endorsement of The Winnipeg Jets. Our Facebook page was overwhelmed with responses when we asked the simple question: What should we call our new hockey team? We immediately discounted The Winnipeg Mosquitos (1 vote) and went with everybody’s favorite…The Winnipeg Jets. Probably no great surprise there as the name still has a certain cachet and nostalgic value attached to it. Even Jonathon Toews (wouldn’t you LOVE to see him in a Jet’s uniform!) would like to see the old name reinstated. So come on Winnipeg, just as All Star has its goals and metrics to reach, let’s help our re-united Jets attain theirs as we strive for 13,000 season ticket sales. See you at opening night face-off and thanks to all who responded to our impromptu naming campaign.

Imagine not having to go through AutoPac the next time you have a glass claim. Imagine the convenience of a one-stop, single-contact repair for all your automotive glass repairs. Well imagine no more because that’s exactly what you get at All Star with “E-Glass.” Any glass claim is now handled directly by All Star in as little as 5 – 10 minutes with its connection to MPICs database. Customers with current year vehicles or under 20,000 km are also entitled to brand new replacement glass as per Auto Pac regulations. And as much as All Star would like to waive deductibles on glass, MPIC strictly enforces this policy with loss of accreditation for shops that don’t comply. E Glass has been an option for Winnipeg auto body shops this past year. Its initial success suggests E-Glass is the way of the future and might be how all collision claims will eventually be handled. This is just another way All Star is staying ahead of the curve and integrating 21st Century technology to simplify all your automotive repairs.

For the past year All Star has incorporated Ultra Mate to give its valued customers the most accurate estimate of repair work in the province. Through Ultra Mate, every car serial number is matched to that vehicle specifically taking all guess work out of the repair equation: it’s fast, 100% accurate, and customers leave with a printout. Many body shops would balk at the monthly costs of using Ultra Mate, or the expense of having Mitchell send personnel to train All Star employees, but we embrace these new advancements. Anytime we can increase our efficiency, use technology to take the guesswork out of estimates and simplify the communication process with our customers…SIGN US UP! This is just one of the exciting, new innovations we’ve integrated into our business. Stay tuned for more updates on how we’re taking auto body into the 21st Century at All Star.
